隨著高齡社會的來臨，台灣老人的數量激增，壽命也逐年攀升，導致罹患失智症的比率也隨之逐年增加；鑒於「失智症」所延伸的各種症狀及行為表現，會直接影響到個人及家庭生活與社會互動，從而引發更沉重的家庭及社會負擔。因此，如何藉由各種減緩失智症發生或惡化之策略與方法，逐漸成為當前社會及相關學界共同關注討論的議題。基此，本研究針對南投縣竹山鎮共9位確診罹患輕中度失智症之高齡者設計結構性手語學習課程並進行12次實地教學，過程中採質性研究之行動研究法收集現場觀察、對話記錄，並兼採個別訪談法針對受試者及其家屬、現場志工等回饋意見等多元方法收集研究資料，加以整理、分析獲致研究結論如下：（1）受試者參與學習手語課程

的動機與目的本研究受試者受限於病況及資訊來源不足等限制，參與本手語學習課程主要動機係受醫院邀請、通知而來。基此本研究受試者學習動機，皆為被動、好奇及家屬陪伴而來；至於其參與課程學習主要目的在於藉由手語學習課程增進心情愉悅、有助身體健康。（2）受試者參與學習手語課程對其生活各層面的影響A.受試者參與手語課程後對生理層面之影響:受試者參與手語課程後，除能促進雙手指骨骼、肌肉活動更靈活外，亦增進食慾、改善消化系統、睡眠品質變好，再則能依據手語動作的像似性綜融結合受試者過去生活經驗，讓學過的手語更容易記住，有助認知功能之提升。B.受試者參與手語課程後對心理層面之影響:受試者參與手語課程後，更能獲得家人

及親屬精神支持及鼓勵，進而產生喜悅與成就感，並能運用手語於日常生活中，進而增加自信心，提昇自我納悅感及繼續學習意願。C.受試者參與手語課程後對社會層面之影響:受試者參與手語課程後，能適時應用所學於日常生活中，從而獲得家人、親友肯定、鼓勵與關心，使受試者與及老人伙伴間有更頻繁社會互動機會，進而走出疏離、冷漠與自卑，展現自信有效提升受試者與的社區鄰里團體之間更活絡、密切的人際互動關係。（3）受試者及其家屬對未來持續學習手語課程的期待與建議A.本研究受試者與其家屬希望政府相關單位，能利用多元宣導管道，加強各種延緩失智症惡化學習課程訊息宣導，讓有需求老人獲得更多參與課程學習之機會。B.透過本研究系列課
