本研究依據本體理論、本體發展方法論與知識轉換模式,建構汽車引擎故障診斷知識本體的模型,以及語意查詢系統。首先蒐集國內外相關文獻,探討汽車引擎系統最常出現之故障現象與故障原因,並藉由深度訪談與專家會議,發掘汽車修護專家的內隱知識,完成汽車引擎系統故障分析表;再配合本體理論文獻探討的結果,建構以知識本體為基礎的汽車引擎故障診斷的框架體系,建置於美國史丹福大學所開發之protégé公共軟體,並建構出一個語意查詢系統,藉由建立汽車引擎故障診斷的知識本體,以及隱含查詢語法之網頁表單查詢介面,使用者能夠透過簡單的查詢步驟,獲得汽車引擎故障現象的故障原因及排序順位。本研究發展出之汽車引擎故障診斷知識本體,

主要是基於應用上的需求,可作為汽車消費者學習與了解汽車引擎故障診斷的知識平台,學校實施問題導向教學之數位學習教材,並與企業資訊系統結合,提供專家知識以提升車廠接待人員問診判斷之能力、維修技師之專業能力。
