本研究主旨在探究閱讀知識性文本對於提升台灣二年級學童英語字彙和閱讀理解能力的成效。本研究採單組前、後測實驗設計，以新北市某補習班八位二年級生為研究對象，接受計12堂課，每堂50分鐘之實驗教學。閱讀的知識性文本則以三本不同主題的知識性讀本為主。研究工具包含學生背景調查問卷、英語字彙和閱讀理解能力的前後測、每堂小考(共12次)、和半結構式訪談，從量化和質性來檢視接受實驗的學生在實驗教學後其英語字彙和閱讀理解能力是否有顯著進步。 研究結果顯示八位研究對象在英語字彙和閱讀理解能力上皆有顯著進步。再者，雖然研究對象於閱讀知識性文本的表現、喜愛、和接受度深受對其主題的背景知識、興趣、和相關

語言熟練度影響，但對於閱讀知識性文本普遍持正面的回饋。最後，根據研究結果提出相關建議，供英語教學與未來研究之參考。
