隨著市場經濟的發展，廠商日益注重自身形象的包裝，國內外大多數企業常使用「名人」來擔任企業和產品的代言人。Mathur, Mathur,& Rangan(1997)的研究發現，一個主要的名人代言人，具有影響產品獲利能力的潛力，且在成熟市場，使用名人代言產品，可望獲得高於產業平均的銷售與利潤成長。因此企業常想追求名人代言所產生的眼球經濟，但一旦名人代言過多，企業往往也必須在名人的「上報曝光率」與「厭膩度」中掙扎。近年來，有些企業為了在眾多的同質性產品中脫穎而出，跳脫出傳統上只使用單一代言人的模式，開始推出「名人聯合代言」的豪華陣容來吸引消費者，但卻也同時必須付出更昂貴的行銷費用。然而「名人聯合代
言」能否真能達到1+1>2的廣告效果？此外，名人的八卦訊息也可能會影響代言效果。 本研究欲探討名人代言數量及名人聯合代言，是否會影響代言品牌的廣告效果？名人的八卦訊息所帶來的種種影響，可否透過名人聯合代言來減輕？本研究採用實驗法進行實證，挑選出代言數量多及數量少各二位代言人，以飲料-果汁為實驗產品來發展問卷，共有八組不同實驗情境，對大學生進行問卷調查。研究結果發現，當名人代言數量多時，並不會降低廣告效果；若當兩位代言數量少的名人聯合代言，其廣告效果會比單一位代言數量少的名人來的佳；並且，兩位代言數量少的名人聯合代言且有八卦訊息產生，其廣告效果會明顯惡化。但研究結果也顯示，八卦訊息未必會完
全對廣告效果造成負面影響。

「八卦」(gossip)是常見的社會現象。八卦的定義眾說紛紜。經過調查後，在本研究中，八卦是指未經證實就相互流傳，並涉及第三者隱私或秘密，通常為負面消息的言語行為。本篇針對「八卦對象」、「八卦話題」，以及「八卦功用」上，檢視男女在八卦時是否會依據熟悉程度，採取顯著不同的語言策略。結果歸納如下。一、 在八卦對象的選擇上，結果顯示並沒有顯著的性別差異。男女跟很熟的朋友八卦時，均傾向八卦「要好的朋友」、「演藝人員」和「公司/學校的風雲人物」。當熟悉程度下降，人們傾向八卦「不熟的朋友」或公眾人物，如「演藝人員」。二、 男女在與很熟的朋友、不熟的女性朋友八卦時，有顯著的性別差異。男女均傾向跟很熟的
