為了解決inhumane中文的問題，作者施偉平 這樣論述：

藝術創作是一種感情的抒發，有些人是探索大自然美的事物，而有的是挖掘內心的想像世界。至於我的創作，是表達對當今所發生的人事物不合理的抗議:從同學之間的言語霸凌、台灣社會發生的殘酷殺人案、萊豬與嚴重特殊傳染性肺炎疫苗的荒謬政治決策、到國際間不人道的戰爭與難民事件等。 本創作研究的理念如同一九二零時期德國的新即物主義（Neue Sachlichkeit，亦稱新客觀主義）所言:”有別於表現主義及抽象故事繪畫，我們所採取的手法是更客觀的、細緻的寫實，精神則是毫無隱瞞地呈現事實，對當時的社會進行苛刻而諷刺性的批判；如此一來，新即物主義得以貫徹其最初目的之一：藝術有其政治責任…。” 透過傳統平

面繪畫（油彩畫布與代針筆畫紙）的呈現，與當代藝術常用的 「挪用」技巧，除了宣洩個人的情緒外，本創作就也想表達這些事物荒謬的真實性。期望作品所蘊含的寓意，可以讓觀者駐足片刻，回望人類所創作的世界，反思是否合理?
